Uninvited guests upset Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem's daily routine, putting a strain on their relationship. With evident references to Polanski's psychological thrillers, Darren Aronofsky balances between devotion and insanity and returns, with the help of a glamorous cast, back to the chilling starting point that defined his career. Entry by invitation only

A couple’s life is disrupted when some uninvited guests upset their routine. The guests’ indiscreet behavior turns to a disconcerting challenge that reveals the cracks of the family home and redefines concepts such as love, devotion and sacrifice.

Darren Aronofsky deals once again with the nightmarish descent of the troubled body (“Black Swan”, “The Wrestler”) and spirit (“Requiem for a Dream”) of a person at the end of their rope. He makes an immodest study on climaxing paranoia and explores the secret desires, the innate fears and the urban neuroses of a world “accustomed to madness”. The ironically photogenic protagonists (Jennifer Lawerence, Havier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer) are a stark contrast to Aronofsky’ s fascinating film. A provocative psychodrama, a religious allegory and an extreme thriller that “you have to see to believe”.
