In 60s Montana, a teenager's life is turned upside down when the seemingly happy marriage of his parents falls apart. The talented actor of “There Will Be Blood” steps behind the camera and instead directs Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan to produce an unexpectedly mature directorial debut which opened the International Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival.

In ‘60s Montana, 14-year-old Joe Brinson watches in suffocating distress his parents' marriage fall apart. An already notable actor, having starred in gems like «There Will Be Blood», Paul Dano adapts Richard Ford’s novel and it seems that his decision to get behind the camera is vindicated: a debut film that was screened in Sundance and triumphantly opened the International Critics’ Week in Cannes.

Centred around a teenager (a character idiosyncratically similar to the roles that Dano himself has played in the past), «Wildlife» is both a coming-of-age story and a comment on the premature end of of the holy American family’s illusions, offering a glimpse to the long road towards the emancipation of women.
