A White, White Day

Somewhere in freezing Iceland, a local police officer becomes obsessed after learning of his wife’s unfaithfulness, two years after she died in a car accident. The director of the stunning “Winter Brothers” returns with a story of sorrow, revenge and above all unconditional love. Ingvar Sigurdsson won the Rising Star Award during the Critic’s Week of the Cannes Film Festival. In attendance of the lead actor, Ingvar E. Sigurdsson

‘On days so white you cannot tell sky from earth, the dead speak to us, to the living’. In an isolated part of a remote land, Ingimundr struggles with the memory of his untimely gone wife (in an impressive opening scene). As time goes by he has suspicions she had been unfaithful. His only joy is his granddaughter. But the pain of the memory and frustration do not combine well.

The ‘Ιslandic factor’ strikes again with an impressive drama in the classic, sterilized Scandinavian style of the lately miraculous country. From the first scenes in the house through days, seasons and Time, to the amazing unexpected scenes of the rolling boulder, here is a drama dealing with the rage and grief of loss until the ghostly elation of the redemptive
ending. I.D.
