Whit Stillman is an American writer/director best known for his first film "Metropolitan" (1990). He studied in Harvard and has lived and worked in France, Spain and Ireland. Two of his film stories he turned into novels, the first* winning France's Prix Fitzgerald.

Hannah Patterson is a UK-based screenwriter and producer. She is currently working on several film and TV projects, including Claude with the BFI, winner of The Athena List in association with Amazon Studios, and the Galway Film Fleadh Best Pitch Award, and adaptations of her own play Much and the Booker-longlisted novel Unexploded. She has been invited to participate on screenwriting labs at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the London Film Festival and CineStory in Los Angeles, and participated on the British film industry's flagship scheme Guiding Lights, under the mentorship of David Hare. Her most recent plays have been staged at Hampstead Theatre and Theatre503 in London and at 59e59 Theaters in New York as part of Brits off Broadway. Co-writer/producer of award-winning documentary Shelter in Place (Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation), she has also written extensively about film for publications such as The Guardian and Sight & Sound, commissioned and contributed to Creative Essentials, a series of books about screenwriting and filmmaking, and regularly hosts industry Q&As and masterclasses for the Barbican, BFI, BAFTA and Curzon Cinemas.


She was born in Switzerland where she studied dramatic art in Zurich and took part in various experimental groups. She spent 10 years in Paris where she took classes under Antoine Vitez at the Conservatoire and worked with various theatre companies. Since 1985 she lives and works in Greece. Within these years she performed in films, t.v. serials, t.v movies and theatre productions. She has worked with directors such as Nikos Nikolaidis, Tonia Marketaki in film, Giannis Chouvardas and Michail Marmarinos in theater. Recently she performed in Ghost from a Perfect Place-P. Ridley (National Theatre of Northern Greece, dir. A. Revi), Never Together-Ts. Tzanatos and Judith-H. Barker (DameBlanche Dance and Theatre Company, dir. Chryssa Kapsouli), Orpheus Descending (National Theatre of Greece, dir. Barbara Weber), Happy Days in Grey Gardens (Théâtre 104, dir. Katia Goulioni). In 2009 she took part in the Oscar nominated movie Dogtooth (dir. G. Lanthimos). For 25 years she is collaborating with Demosthenis Agrafiotis in sitespecific projects, intermedia lectures, performances and multilanguage poetics. She translates poetry (French, Italian and German). She was in charge of the exhibition “The Zero Years” at the Cinema Museum in Thessaloniki in 2007.


Humberto Moureira is a Brazilian graduated freelancer journalist and moderator based in Zurich. He has also studied acting in Sao Paulo. He is a member of Swiss Film Journalist Association and member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). He has been covering international film festivals as a journalist and has collaborated with the Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, Binoclo among others.


Birgit Kohler is co-director of Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art in Berlin. As current interim head of the Berlinale’s Forum section she has been responsible for the main programme of this year’s Forum edition after having been a member of its selection committee since 2002. As a curator and author she focuses primarily on contemporary documentary film as well as on a large range of artistic approaches in current international filmmaking (from Chantal Akerman and Pedro Costa to Agnès Varda and Apichatpong Weerasethakul). Her curatorial work also concentrates on the aesthetic exploration of socio-political phenomena in independent cinema from Algeria, Greece, Lebanon, Morocco or Portugal for instance. In 2017, she received the “Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” for her service to French cinema. She is a long-standing member of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and Goethe-Institut selection committees that award international film stipends. Moreover she teaches at universities and in film academies, including the theory and practice of curation


International Documentary Competition Jury 


Maggi Hurt has worked in cinema exhibition in the UK since her 20s, initially at York Film Theatre and Macrobert Arts Centre, Stirling. She then joined Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle to develop the research centre and bookshop and became one of the team, alongside Sheila Whitaker, developing the ground breaking Tyneside International Independent Film Festival in the 1980s. Since then she has been at BFI Southbank, London, in a variety of roles, including curating the events programme, organising exhibitions of posters and photography and contributing to a wide range of international film seasons across the BFI’s festivals and year round programme. Maggi has a particular interest in widening cultural access and in the diversity of documentary forms.


Starting from 2005 Sonora Broka has been curating both national and international film programmes for the Riga International Film Forum Arsenals, Riga Nordic Film Days, Children's Film Festival “Berimora kino”. She was the director of IFF Arsenal for two years, and on 2014th participated in the creation of its successor RIGA IFF, where works as an Artistic Director for the fifth year. Sonora Broka hosts a radio program “Piejūras klimats” (Coastal Climate), writes film reviews for the weekly magazine "IR", monthly  magazine "Klubs", and portal She has participated in various film festival juries and in the European Parliament's LUX Prize jury.


Gerhard Wissner Ventura, born 1962, master studies at University of Kassel: sociology, political and educational sciences, since 1985 participation at Filmladen Kassel e.V., since 1989 programmer and curator for the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival (focus on short film and installations), 1995 founder and co-owner of the Bali Cinemas Kassel, since 1997 festival director of Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival. Freelance curator, a selection: 1998, 2002 Werkleitz Biennale, 1997, 2002, 2007 organization and realization of the documenta film program and DOCUMENTA (13), Cocurator of Emerging Artists (AG Kurzfilm / German Films Vol. 1 - 3.); jury activity for numerous national and international festivals among others Cinema Verite Teheran, DOK.fest München, dokumentarfilmwoche hamburg, Images Festival Toronto.


Bernadett Tuza Ritter is an award-winning filmmaker specializing in creative documentaries and fiction. She studied directing and editing in Budapest, Hungary. Her first feature length documentary A WOMAN CAPTURED has been premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2018, was nominated for the European Film Awards and won the first award at the 24th edition of the AIFF.


Gerasimos Rigas has studied photography, history of filmmaking and documentary film at UC Berkeley. Rigas has directed four critically acclaimed documentary films: "Habits", “Parvas, agoni grammi” “100 (Alexandras 173, Athina)” and “Black Box”. In Spring of 2017 he had his first solo exhibition of photography at Gallery Skoufa, Athens. The title of the exhibition was "0.7 to infinity". “Parvas, agoni grammi”, his second feature film, was released theatrically in Athens and Thessaloniki in January 2009 and became a commercial success in the box office. AMANDA LIVANOU (president)

Born in Athens. Amanda studied MA and History at the London School of Economics. She worked for a short term in advertising productions at Filmiki Productions S.A. Later on she switched to cinema, co-founding the production company IdeeFixe, while working in television for Mega Channel & MAD TV. In 2014 he founded Neda Film. She is a graduate of the European EAVE, EAVE + & Midpoint Producers Program as well as the Sundance Institute (Producer's Summit, 2014) She has served on the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Film Academy and is a member of the European Film Academy (EFA). In 2018 together with Kalliopi Charalambous she co-founded the Athens Children's Film Festival ( whose first edition took place in December 2018 at the Music Hall (MEGARON).


Marisha Triantafyllidou is a Greek actress. She has appeared in theater, cinema and television. She is also a translator, playwright, and assistant director in theater and has collaborated among others with BLITZ, N. Karathanos, N. Labôt, P. Koutras, A. Papadimitropoulos, S. Tzoumerkas, T. Karanikolas, K. Gavras, F. Tsitos, L. Haritos, P. Dimitrakopoulou, S. Kyriakopoulos. For her part in the film "Her Job", by N. Labôt, she has been awarded the Best Female Actress award in the 59th Thessaloniki International Film Festival and in the 10th Hellenic Film Academy Awards.


Christos Voupouras was born in 1954 in Komi, Lesvos. He is the screenwriter and director of the following films: "Deserter", feature film (1988) in collaboration with George Korras. "Mirupafshim", feature film (1977) in collaboration with George Korras. "Dance of the Horses", feature documentary (2001). "7 Kinds of Wrath", feature film (2014). His books "Mirupafsim Means till we meet again" (co-written with George Korras), "Deadend Street - Asomaton Street", short stories (2004) and the novel "7 Kinds of Wrath" 2014 have been published by Estia publications.


Dimitris Vrachnos was born in Australia to immigrant parents. He grew up in Greece. He studied Communication and Media at the University of Athens and as an Erasmus student he attended communication courses at the Louvain La Neuve University in Belgium. As he was graduating from school he got involved with radio on an amateur level. Later on he began his professional collaboration with "Station 101.3" (DIESI), which lasted from 1997 to 2006. In 2006 he joined Melodia FM 99. 2 and since 2015 he has been the Program Director while working as a Radio Producer. He has also collaborated with Madame Figaro magazine for artist interviews and he has also written texts on cinema, music and theater. He also does voice-over work for documentary narratives and commercials.


Lina Nikolakopoulou studied Social and Political Sciences at Panteion University. She studied at the Stavrakos Film School, during which time she was working for the television series "Paraskinio". In the past she attended theater courses at the Pelos Katselis Drama School. She began writing lyrics in the early ‘80s and has collaborated with acclaimed composers and performers. She was a member of the Creative Team of the Athens Olympic Games in 2004 and has been honored with the Order of the Phoenix by the Presidency of the Republic.

Panagiotis Fafoutis is a Greek director, screenwriter and producer, born and raised in Patras. He studied law at the Kapodistrian University of Athens and directing at the Stavrakos Film School. He has directed 6 short films, which have been distinguished in Greece and abroad and 2 feature films, "Heir" and "Paradise". He is a professor of film directing at Stavrakos Film School and Drama Schools. He is co-writing with Elina Tsykou the script for her third feature-length film, “Seaside".


Aliki is a screenwriter and director. She studied film and philosophy in New York. She lives in Athens and works extensively as a theater director. Feature films: Roads and Oranges (1996), Bar (2003), Chinatown - The Three Shelters (2018). She is currently in script development of her fourth feature and has an upcoming theater production in October of Arthur’s Schnitzler’s play REIGEN.


Director and actor, founding member of the Epi Kolono Theater, founder of TEMPUSVERUM Theater Company. Since 2015 he is the artistic director at the EN ATHINAIS Theater, where he established the ADAPT FESTIVAL and SMALL ACADEMY where he teaches theater. In 2012 he was honored with the Dimitris Horn Award for his performance in the theater. Some of his collaborations include the world-renowned filmmakers Olivier Pi at the Avignon Festival as well as Ludovic Lagarde. In 2016 he participated in the jury at the Taratsa International Film Festival in Thessaloniki while in 2006 she directed the short film "WITHOUT" which took part in the competition section of the Drama Film Festival.


Elias Maglinis, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)1970, is the editor-in-chief of the Sunday cultural section Kathimerini newspaper. He has published three books of fiction. His novel “The Interrogation” has been translated into English and Serbian and has also been adapted for the big screen (the film will be released in autumn 2019). His novel "Morning Calm" won three literary awards, one of which was given by the Academy of Athens. In October 2019 Metaixmio Publications will publish his new book "I'm All I've Forgotten." A True Story”.


Mariza Rizou stood out in the choir at the age of 17y.o. in 2007 she began her career on the music scene as a lead and guest singer. In 2009, she completed her academic studies - at the University of Athens (EMME)- and joined a big advertising company. In 2011, while practicing improvisation in jazz vocals, she decided to stay in Greece instead of moving to Amsterdam for a master’s degree in jazz music and voice. In 2012 an unexpected adaptation of Fivos Delivoria's song, "Bosa Nova of Isaiah", prepares the ground for her first album release in February 2013 entitled "Sweet Morning", from which the song "Another Happiness" - written by Mariza - both music & lyrics - stands out.The song gains great radio airplay reaching Media Inspector 154 in just a few weeks. In 2014 she performs the song "I Fly" (Petao) with Panos Mouzourakis. The song is a breakthrough and leads to the second album release "Big Feast"( Megali Giorti) by Feelgood Records (October 2016). Since then, Mariza Rizou has performed all over Greece, while writing music for the theater.
