Echoes of Home - Heimatklänge

In Echoes of Home Swiss director Stefan Schwietert presents three contemporary Yodelling musicians’ experimental takes on his country’s traditional music. For most of the world, Yodelling is a rather odd Swiss cultural element; steering clear of any hint of kitsch or easy reverence, Schwietert manages to look beyond Yodelling’s rhythmic and tonal particularities to render it as a complex code of communication between man and his environment, a global experience and a musical lingua franca between the spiritual and the physical world. A loving tribute to a largely unknown musical genre, Echoes of Home is among this Festival’s true musical gems.
