Don’t Look Now

25/9/2015,23:00,ODEON Οπερα 1

Featuring one of the most seminal love scenes in the history of cinema and a shocking finale that will haunt you for life, Roeg's masterpiece sees a British couple mourning the death of their young daughter in a menacing Venice, where bad omens open a gateway to the supernatural. More than just a thriller, this is an unforgettable journey straight into the mouth of darkness.

One of the best films of all times begins with the drowning of a little girl and concludes with one of the most shocking endings ever captured on film. Meanwhile, «Don’t Look Now» - an exemplary adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s novel - follows an English married couple which travels through a misty and inhospitable Venice. There, the architect-husband is called to renovate a local church while at the same time he is trying to exorcise, together with his wife, the pain of their big loss. A series of terrifying omens, events of metaphysical nature and creepy warnings, however, will turn their stay there into a morbid date with the big Unknown and the total absurd.
A combination of mystery film, psychological drama and horror creation, this pure masterpiece with the amazing editing, the exceptional Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie, the plunged into threat atmosphere, the dovetail between metaphysical and real and the directorial masterfulness might as well be the magnum opus of Nicolas Roeg.
