O' Horten

After 40 years on the job as an engine driver, the 67-year-old Odd Horten is getting ready for his last Oslo-Bergen trip before his retirement. Most people look forward to the retirement though not Odd, who views the prospect of the long empty days to come with dread. What is he going to do with the rest of his life? Will he finally get the chance to travel by plane? Will he be reunited with his long lost love? Will he muster the courage to make the life-changing decision of buying a dog? Bittersweet and unpretentious, Bent Hamer’s (Kitchen Stories) new film is a moving tale about the sudden coming of age of a lonely elderly man. The film was screened at the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes.
