Pretty in the Face

Split between their sexual curiosity and the need to maintain their dignity, an insecure 26-year-old girl and an overweight adolescent form a peculiar friendship to help one another overcome their personal issues. Nate Meyer’s virtually non-existent budget doesn’t seem to deter him in the least, as he turns himself into a veritable one-man crew to deliver a spontaneous, flawless gem, that simply shines through its grainy cinematography and low production values. Reminiscent of Pantelis Voulgaris’s Pink and progressive indie American cinema (particularly movie makers such as Andrew Bujalski) Pretty in the Face is a DIY surprise.
