Rural Arkansas, the present. A man’s funeral becomes the stage for a bloody tragedy between the two families he left behind. Son and his brothers, abandoned by the deceased, confront their socially and economically successful half brothers. When Son spits on his father’s grave he unwittingly ignites a feud that can only be washed in blood. Heavily influenced by his producer David Gordon Green’s previous films, Jeff Nichols directs a tight, suspenseful thriller reminiscent of an ancient Greek tragedy or a biblical parable. Shotgun Stories was presented in the International Forum of New Cinema Section of the Berlin Film Festival.
