When his partner is killed by notorious counterfeiter Eric Masters, Secret Services Agent Chance vows to hunt the villain down ? at all costs. Sound familiar? Don’t be fooled; this is no ordinary cop movie. Doing away with the typical ‘good guy vs. bad guy’ plot, director William Friedkin (The French Connection) pushes the police flick envelope to deliver a tight psychological thriller, where all human interaction is based on fraud and the lines between hunter and prey, law and crime become blurred. Fast-paced, action-packed and featuring superb cinematography and a nearly perfect soundtrack, To Live and Die in L.A. is a sadly forgotten 80s masterpiece.
