Pingpongkingken
Life can be hard for Rille, a 16-year-old overweight teenager growing up in a remote town in Northern Sweden. Bullied at school and patronized by his younger brother and divorced mother at home, Rille escapes into the only thing he knows he’s good at: table tennis. In his debut film, Jen Jonsson contrasts the frozen, still landscape with his main character’s inner turmoil to deliver a moving, low-key drama about maintaining one’s dignity against all odds. Cinematography Award and Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.
