Il Divo
Few political figures have divided their countries more than Giulio Andreotti, the emblematic Italian politician nicknamed ?Il Divo? (the divine). A dominant figure in Italian politics, Prime Minister for seven terms and Senator for life since 1991, the 73-year-old politician was accused for his alleged connections with the Mafia in 1992. He was eventually acquitted, but the scandal had marred his reputation and brought the ultimate demise of his party. Il Divo still exercises a bizarre charm on his people, and Sorrentino is no exception. His fast-paced, humorous and revealing film is an attempt to break the spell of one of the most controversial figures in contemporary Italian politics. Jury Prize at Cannes
