In the mid-70s, the quiet New York neighborhood of East Hampton proved more than a headache for Jackie Kennedy-Onassis, when it was revealed that her aunt and first cousin, who had shut themselves in their Grey Gardens mansion decades ago, were living in total squalor and hoarding cats prompting a visit from health inspection. With the full consent of the ?two Eddies?, as they were called, the directors spent six weeks at the mansion recording the vestiges of their lives. ?Unfulfilled dreams, disappointment, beauty long eaten away by old age, memories of distant, wealthier times and ghosts from the past were the only companions for the lonely occupants of the house the locals called Grey Gardens.?
