17-year-old Noriko is dissatisfied with her family, until she discovers an internet discussion board targeted at teenage girls. Happy to have finally found people who understand her, she lets her guard down and decides to run away from home. Arriving in Tokyo, she meets fellow board member Kumiko and together they join a bizarre ‘family circle program’ offering the experience of family life to those who have none. But when things at the commune take a sinister turn, Noriko realizes the true value of family and begins to understand her own.
