Orchestra
Bodies float in the Chartres Cathedral, a party of soldiers march through the Louvre and various characters take turns in front of a piano each playing his own life’s music. With Chopin’s Marche Funèbre and Ravel’s Boléro in the background, Rybczyński choreographs his images to bring together life and death, obscure boundaries and reinvent cinematic space. The ?Orchestra? is an unedited rite, an achievement of special effects and proof that technology can give birth to poetry.
