DER RAUBER / THE ROBBER

"The Robber" tells the true story of celebrated Austrian 80s marathon runner Johannes Rettenberger who caused a scandal, when he was revealed to be the man behind a string of bank robberies. An obsessive planner and thrill seeker, Rettenberger managed to elude the police for a long time, before he was found out by his girlfriend, who discovered his gun, his mask and the stolen cash. Director Benjamin Heisenberg directs a stylized drama about the inner conflict of a man torn between his craving for the adrenaline rush and his need for a quiet, ordinary everyday life.
