BLESSED
Based on the play Who's Afraid Of The Working Class, penned by Booker candidate C. Tsiolkas among others, Blessed transforms to a pure cinematic account of emotions and tensions sweeping away the screen. A series of stories taking place within a day is seen both by the young heroes' angle at first and then by their parents' one. It's nothing but a guide for sharp family relations of modern urban reality and insecurity, not limited to growing up's tough field but accompanying the whole human nature. Easily moving from story to story Kokkinos delivers a slow burner with fine performances from a script honoured in San Sebastian film festival, could say that he expands space into time, since each line appears a few split seconds after the one that preceded it. Distorted, reversed images and other wonderful and strange depictions unfold before the viewer's unbelieving eyes.
