LA TRAVERSEE / THE CROSSING

'Objectivity' is for many the unbreakable rule of a documentary maker. In "La Traversee" though Lifshitz breaks this rule from the very beginning, when he decide to follow a friend travelling to America in search of the father he has never met. Stephane Bouquet's journey may be presenting his efforts to find a man he's not sure he wants to meet, but is also a chance of discovering his own feelings and a new look to something so symbolic as a road trip in the American continent. Even if it's the account of a quest it combines all the basic elements of Lifshitz's art seen through a different format.
