TERRE FROIDE / COLD LANDS : Having lost his job Djamel, a teenager of arab origin, leaves Paris and his girlfriend for Grenoble and a new work at a factory. Having never met his father, who according to his mother was a successful businessman, Djamel will start feeling attracted to his boss. When he denies fatherhood Djamel will decide to revenge by entangling in his scheme the homosexual son of his supposed father. Shot for Arte chanel, Les Terres Froides manages in its short duraton to include a modern version of the oedipus legend, the devices of a psychological thriller and strong parallel for the conflict between those who have and have not, not neccessarily in terms of money and class.

LES CORPS OUVERTS / OPEN BODIES: Having created a buzz in various film festivals and been awarded the Jean Vigo prize Lifshitz's first feature established him as a talent to watch. Following the everyday life of his young hero he creates a portrait that reminds of an unpretentious documentary, managing to depict in detail the young boy's life in a certain time of his life. Remi has a French mother and a north african father and is a typical parisian boy. He studies, tries to be the good son and working part time at a grocery store. When he replies an ad requesting young actors he ends up in his future director's bed and he also explores his sexuality in sex shops and toilets.
