Hit So Hard
“The generation that picked me or Kurt Kobain as their spokesmen must have been a completely fucked-up generation”. These words, by Pearl Jam’s frontman and composer, Eddie Vedder, make up the perfect tagline for this musical biography, which may focus on Patty Schemel, Hole’s gay drummer, but manages to capture the smell of the famous teen spirit, along with the pulse of an entire era. Unreleased footage shot by Schemel herself sees the light of day and includes tours, backstage, concerts and super-rare archival material from the 6 months that Schemel lived with Courtney Love, Kobain and their little daughter. From the end of the 80s, the explosion of grunge in Seattle and Patty’s near-hiring by Nirvana, to the rock star dream lived with Hole and the ups and downs in rehab, “Hit so hard” is the testimony of a woman that plunged into the turmoil of fame, drugs and alcohol but managed to emerge to tell her story.
