Killing Bono
Based on Neil McCormick’s memoir, “Killing Bono” tells the real-life story of the McCormick brothers in the 70s Dublin and their deadly rivalry with their schoolmate, Paul Hewson. The two brothers choose to form their own band, which plays gigs at awful venues, doesn’t sell any records and generally goes from bad to worse. On the other hand, Paul Hewson forms a band as well. Their name is U2 and Paul quickly renames himself Bono. This hilarious comedy draws its inexhaustible humour from the incredible tale of envy, from a new band towards the greatest rock band of the planet – with whom they went to school. Failed musical attempts, decadent gigs and dealings with Irish gangsters offer comic gags galore that accompany an enjoyable and nostalgic passage through the unique music scene of the 80s.
