The End of Silence
Jean is the difficult son of a family living isolated in the mountains. After a particularly intense fight with his parents, he seeks shelter at Nils and Ida’s friendly home. The following day, he goes hunting with them in the woods, where he learns how to kill for the first time. Later when his mother’s car is set alight, everyone thinks he’s the one responsible. Jean will disappear but, when he returns, the twists will be hard to predict. With his handheld camera enhancing the gradually increasing tension, Roland Edzard stages his slow-burning drama in an inaccessible and foggy landscape, in full accordance with the young protagonist’s psyche. Guilty secrets of the past unfold in a story of constantly escalating violence and surprise the viewer in a tragic finale.
