Spring Breakers
Harmony Korine’s latest provocative effort is, without any hint of exaggeration, the guiltiest pleasure of the film season, capturing four young girls in a violent, heavily sexualized Spring Break frenzy.
Harmony Korine’s latest provocative effort is, without any hint of exaggeration, the guiltiest pleasure of the film season, capturing four young girls in a violent, heavily sexualized Spring Break frenzy. After robbing a fast-food restaurant, the four luscious schoolgirls unleash their female spunk upon the most risky and out-of-control vacation of their lives, unavoidably joining forces with a nebulous gangsta rap singer (James Franco in one of the most unexpected performances he has ever delivered) with a shady agenda.
Gulping down gallons of alcohol and doing endless quantities of recreational drugs, Faith, Candy, Britt and Cotty are caught up in one of those strange incidents that only take place during Spring Break and that’s where they should stay. Libidinous explosions and scenes destined to become future classics are beckoning in a film that can only be described as a crossover between a hormonal teenage comedy, a Britney Spears music video and Brian de Palma’s “Scarface” K.Th.
