Possession
Censored in many countries, "Possession" quickly became the ultimate 80s cult item, while the enchanting Isabelle Adjani was rightfully awarded at the Cannes Film Festival and the César Awards for delivering one of the best female performances of all time.
After experiencing a bitter breakup, Andrzej Zulawski decided to revive the story of a woman (Isabelle Adjani), who abandons her husband (Sam Neil) and her lover for a mysterious creature that seemingly feeds on repressed desires, with the relentless tension it deserved.
Her actions set off a chain reaction of violent encounters, bloody murders, extreme behavior and inexplicable transformations, against the backdrop of the Berlin Wall.
The location is no coincidence, as Zulawski fleshes out his heroine's internal demons, placing the chronicle of a wrecked marriage in the heart of a divided city, camouflaging a family drama with political undertones as a surreal horror film.
