Young Valerie is watching a group of traveling performers arriving in her town to play at a wedding, when she becomes fixated on a ‘monster’ who transforms into something looking like a vampire. She continues to see the vampire everywhere, in the face of every man she meets. ?The director gives mythical dimensions to the transformation of a prepubescent girl into a woman by identifying her first menstruation with a symbolic baptism into the adult world, whose two-fold, schizophrenic nature she must comprehend at all costs, all the while walking on a dreamy extension of reality.?
