Charly
14-year-old Nicolas escapes from his foster home armed only with a book and a postcard. After days of aimless wandering he is taken in by Charly, a young prostitute living in a trailer; little does he know that his life is about to change for ever. Le Besco wrote the part of Nicolas especially for her younger brother Kolia Litscher (who also stars in Half-Price). For Charly, Le Besco made a series of bold directorial choices: eschewing the so-called high production values, she opts for narrative simplicity, sparse dialogue and long allegorical sequences to add depth to her characters and create a unique atmosphere of hesitation, uncertainty and loneliness.
