Demi-Tarif
Taking advantage of their mother’s absence, three siblings, a boy and two girls, roam the streets of Paris sampling life without adult supervision. In her directorial debut, the enfant terrible of French cinema (the film was shot when Isild Le Besvo was only 21) follows the kids eating in restaurants without paying, shoplifting and begging for change in a whimsical survival-of-the-fittest story about three kids striving to make it on their own in an adult world. Resembling a practical joke, Half-Price was met with rave reviews worldwide and prompted critic Chris Marker to speak of 'the emergence of a New Wave in which Half-Price would be Breathless'. A modern classic.
