Spanning two decades, and focusing on four pivotal summers in the lives of two girls who spend their annual vacation in New Mexico alongside their divorced father, this autobiographical debut, which triumphed at this year's Sundance Film Festival (Best Film and Best Director awards), is an elegiac coming-of-age story. It begins in adolescence, builds up to adulthood and bittersweetly captures what it means to grow up, to love despite adversity and to gradually heal the wounds of a dysfunctional family, finding your identity and place in the world.
