Augusto and Paulina. He is a journalist, active during the times of Pinochet’s harsh dictatorship. She is an actress, active, ambitious, and younger, his second wife. Augusto begins showing symptoms of Alzheimer’s. She is there every morning, reminding him all over again who they are. This is not a Hollywood rom-com. Neither a well-made drama of great performances. This is life. And it’s made of those starring in it, humbly, privately. And this is love. Love through and through, insuperably established, undeniable. Difficult, especially for her. And she proves to us all that love is not something to announce, it is not an argument in a dispute, nor a lovers’ whisper. There is only one love no comparatives. Earthshaking stuff. I.D.

MAITE ALBERDI
Chilean director, the first in her country to be nominated for an academy award (for ‘The Mole Agent’, 2020). An insightful, unique voice in documentaries, with an authenticity that comes from the absolute discretion of the camera and the emotionally rich but not melodramatic editing of her footage. The example is this film which deservedly won the Jury Prize at Sundance.
