ADRIANNE AND THE CASTLE

The film takes us to Havencrest, an impressive building out of the kitschy tale of the love between Alan and Adrianne, an artist and a female drag performer. Alan watched his inspiration die with the loss of his beloved in 2011, but set about building an otherworldly castle laden with memories of their relationship. A "temple of art and love," he says, where Adrianne's ghost lurks in every corner. Through archival footage and musical re-enactments of life, a creative documentary brings to life the eccentric universe of a unique love affair. In the half-light defined by arias and moving confessions, the redemptive need to return to what we have loved and been taught to love without restraint is underscored.

Canadian filmmaker, scholar and academic. She received the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2020 and she has directed a series of short films and documentary works.
