Announcement regarding the cancellation of public screenings of the documentary "RUSSIANS AT WAR"

The public screenings of the documentary RUSSIANS AT WAR by Anastasia Trofimova, which were scheduled for today, Friday, October 4th, and tomorrow, Saturday, October 5th, at the ASTOR and DANAOS II cinemas respectively, have been canceled.

The decision to cancel the public screenings was made for the safety of both the audience and the festival staff.

However, the documentary will remain in the Documentary Competition Section of the Festival and will compete for the Golden Athena award alongside the other competing films, emphasizing the choice of the AIFF to include it in this year's program from the start.

Regarding tickets that have already been purchased, we inform the public that:

- a refund will be issued to their credit card if the purchase was made with one,
- a screening credit will be returned to their season pass or accreditation if they had redeemed a zero-ticket from it,
- and in the case of cash purchases, they should contact the Festival’s customer service center at tel. 2106084314

The director follows a Russian battalion in Ukraine. One of the soldiers asks about the footage she is shooting and another one instantly replies that she is filming the truth, not media news truth, their truth. And this truth, filmed with an absolute sense of responsibility towards the protagonists, is neither for those who view the soldiers as bloodthirsty war criminals nor for those who see them as national heroes. It is a risky, though dispassionate, record of men struggling to exist in the futility of yet another war. In the ideal world, it could bring the two sides closer together. In the current one, it’s doomed to provoke reactions similar to the truth it preaches.
