In a small village in northern Iran, Sarah is elected as the first female mayor. Known for her dynamism and integrity, Sara enjoys teaching the village girls how to ride high-powered motorcycles like hers, but also seeks to provoke social norms. However, her actions spark a reaction from the male-dominated community, and the authorities question the persistent mayor's identity. An incredible and completely true story of resistance becomes the basis for one of the best documentaries of the year. Told with humor and sensitivity, Sarah's portrait is elevated through stunning cinematography to an utterly Kafkaesque symbol against prejudice and patriarchy. Winner of the Best International Documentary Award at the recent Sundance Film Festival. Th.K.
