There are harsh aspects of the world which we cannot know or we avoid to confront. Several of those aspects ask us not to look away, especially when they involve how children experience them. The director of this deeply humane and compassionate documentary had admirable access to the daily adversities faced by a boy living in a hotel room with his alcoholic and destitute parents. What the director captures is the three-year realistic portrait of a child growing under extreme poverty, being socially outcast and with zero future prospect, trying to save his parents, guard whatever is left of his wounded innocence and find some hope. MONICA STRØMDAHL
She is an international award-winning documentary stills photographer. She graduated from Falmouth College of Arts. In 2019, she won the 1st prize at the Norwegian Picture of the Year, and was nominated for the Leica Oscar Barnack Award (LOBA). She is known for her intimate way of portraying people and their lives. She has made short films, and this is her debut feature film.
