"The Room Next Door" by Pedro Almodóvar is the Closing Film of the 30th Athens International Film Festival

On Pedro Almodóvar's birthday, we are pleased to announce that "The Room Next Door", the film that just a few weeks ago won the Golden Lion at the 81st Venice Film Festival, will be the Closing Film of the 30th AIFF!

Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine.  Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.

In his first English-language feature film, Almodovar continues to praise women as a mysterious, unstoppable force, full of courage and empathy in the face of adversity. Expertly performed ode to friendship, powerful argument for the individual’s right to determine its own destiny, and a statement of faith in companionship as pure hope in a world increasingly devoid of it. Golden Lion at this year's Venice Film Festival.

The screening of the film will take place on Monday, October 14th (19:30) after the Closing Ceremony and Award Presentation of the 30th AIFF at the Pallas Theater. Ticket presales for the public will begin on Friday, September 27th at 12:00 through more.com.
