The Athens International Film Festival presents the brand new, 30th Anniversary Restoration of «Interview with the Vampire» in an exclusive screening
Simultaneously with its re-release in movie theatres abroad, the Athens International Film Festival invites you to watch an exclusive screening of Neil Jordan's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, for the first time in our country in a brand new digital print made to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its first release. On Saturday, February 24th, at Cinobo OPERA 1.
In a hotel room in present-day San Francisco, a young journalist records the eerie tales of a mysterious man who claims to be a perennial vampire, who crossed over into the world of the undead when he was bitten and sexually seduced by a dandy vampire in 18th century New Orleans, and now recounts a life doomed to eternity, traversing years and continents, forced to leave behind a perpetual trail of blood.
The ideal director to adapt Anne Rice's acclaimed novel, Neil Jordan ("The Company of Wolves", "The Crying Game") fuses gothic thriller with eroticism and twisted humor in a dazzling and bloodshed film with a spectacular set of leading actors: Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise and a memorable debut by Kirsten Dunst as a juvenile (and insatiable) vampire. A big box office success in 1994, the film is being released again these days in movie theaters abroad in a digitally restored print that was created very recently to celebrate its 30th anniversary. This is the print that will be shown in our country, in the exclusive screening of the Athens International Film Festival.
