Based on the eponymous collection of short stories by David Foster Wallace, who committed suicide in 2008, John Krasinki's subject matter is pretty self-explanatory: after her recent breakup, young anthropologist Sara Quinn embarks on a series of interviews with various men trying to find out what when wrong in her relationship and how to fix annoying male habits. Needless to say, the results were not quite what she expected. Featuring several cameos by famous actors, ?Brief Interviews with Hideous Men? is an anatomy of New York middle-class society and a classic example of American independent cinema.
