In an atmospheric rural Georgian town, a community of Jehovah's Witnesses becomes the target of a terrorist attack. The conflict expands into the inner world of the stoic Yana, who, after meeting the police officer assigned to the case, sees everything she had taken for granted in life slip through her fingers. A few years before "April", Kulumbegashvili had introduced herself to us with the thunderous "Beginning", a film that discovers unimaginable beauty in the stark frames that enclose a devastating internal struggle. A story of loneliness in the shadow of faith and patriarchy. Quite simply, and without a hint of exaggeration, a layered, overlooked masterpiece.
