Corman’s World: Exploits of A Hollywood Rebel
In a career spanning more than six decades, Roger Corman left his mark on Hollywood as well as independent cinema perhaps more than anyone else. He generously offered hundreds of cheap but entertaining b-movies to the enthusiastic drive-in movie crowd. He directed some of the best Edgar Alan Poe film adaptations. He distributed arthouse films by directors like Fellini, Truffaut, Bergman and Kurosawa in the US. He gave talented directors and actors like Jack Nicholson, Martin Scorsese, Jonathan Demme, Peter Fonda and John Sayles, the chance they needed to become who they are today. Those mentioned above are only few of the celebrities that explain how much they owe to the man that is known as “The King of the Bs”. Through their interviews, the disarmingly honest confessions by Corman himself, as well as snippets from his outrageous filmography, the film builds a moving portrait of a pioneer of the American cinema.
