Another Earth
Rhoda Williams is a brilliant astrophysics student at MIT. One night, as she’s driving her car, she’s distracted by a blue object in the sky, which leads to her crashing with a van. She inadvertently wipes out a family, leaving the father, and wellknown composer, John Burroughs, in a comma. During the four years she spends in jail, scientific research proves that the blue object of that night is none other than a clone of planet Earth. Perhaps the best sci-fi film of the year, “Another Earth” is the fiction debut for director Mike Cahill, which arrived at Sundance as the underdog but managed to shine by winning two awards and critical praise. An attractive story with provocative philosophical extensions, which breathes new life into a tired film genre.
