One more film from Australia, a country that has demonstrated a very impressive film production this year, combining quality with variety.
One more film from Australia, a country that has demonstrated a very impressive film production this year, combining quality with variety. "The Mule" by Angus Sampson and Tony Mahony is a great reminder that a crime thriller can be suspenseful and hilarious at the same time. Gentle giant Ray (Angus Sampson) works at a TV repair workshop.
During a trip to Thailand, his best friend convinces him to swallow condoms filled with drugs and smuggle into Australia for a hefty sum. As he goes through a routine airport check, Ray loses his cool, making airports official suspicious and forcing them to bring him to justice.
With enough drugs in his stomach to go to jail for a really long time, he is restricted to a hotel room with round-the-clock federal supervision, while the police question him and wait for nature to take its course before putting him under arrest. Ray may not be able to hold out for much longer, but he hasn't said his last word just yet. K.Th.
