OUT OF THE BLUE
USA | 1980 | COLOR | DCP | 94’ | ENGLISH
A 15-year-old girl, an Elvis and Sid Vicious’ fan, who sees her father in prison and her mother lost in drugs, is about to experience her own tough coming-of-age in a no-win provincial America. A genuine cinematic, punk dynamite of nihilism, filled with a raw energy that still shocks today, boasting a staggering performance by Linda Manz, Dennis Hopper’s cursed opus is a hidden gem of the ‘80s: A requiem of lost souls, musically permeated by Neil Young’s ‘My My, Hey Hey’, serving as a recurring motif of sorrow and despair. A screening event of a little-seen recently restored film, in co-operation with Midnight Express. L.K.
