THE SHOUT
UK | 1978 | COLOR | DCP | 86’ | ENGLISH
A mysterious stranger claiming to have returned after years of roaming the Australian deserts and to have supernatural powers, through which he could even take a human life, invades the fragile marriage of a couple living in a peaceful English village. In the same manner, the great Polish filmmaker invades the flow of a regular drama following a metaphysical route that allows him to play with the limits of real and imaginary as well as with the audience’s expectations regarding what comes next, narrating a horror parable about the conflict of civilized human beings with their primal selves. Amazing performances by Alan Bates, John Hurt, Susannah York, a dreamy and eerie atmosphere, Grand Prix at Cannes. L.K
