Removing the action as far as he can from realism, Walter Hill creates an eccentric cinematic world, where the colors are bright and intoxicating, the violence is characterized by unfailing choreographic perfection, New York is transformed into a modern-day jungle filled with modern tribes and the scenes change as if in a comic book. The result is a stunning film that made an impression at its time and hasn’t aged at all, despite being based on one of the oldest texts ever written, the ‘Anabasis’ by Xenophon. L.K.

WALTER HILL
American filmmaker born in 1940. He studied History at Michigan State University, but his love for cinema led him first to historical documentary, then to a job at Universal and then the studios - initially television. He has written and directed a series of films which place him among the great filmmakers of the industry, even if nowadays he does not enjoy the fame he should.
