Trapped in a hotel room whilst trying to escape from a Mafia hot on his heels, Nicky calls on his childhood friend, Mikey, for help; once again, Mikey is called upon to get him out of trouble. The two middle-aged men set off on a nocturnal wander through the city streets, with death lurking on every corner. The third feature film by the elusive director Elaine May (‘A New Leaf’, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’), marks a bold shift in her career, moving away from the exceptional comedy of her earlier films towards a unique, unparalleled blend of bitter humour and remarkable character depth. ELAINE MAY
American writer, actor, comedian and producer, born in 1932. One of the most important, if not the most important, entertainer in the industry, a living legend. She has been awarded an Honorary Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony, a BAFTA and a number of other honors. Her directing, her contributions to screenplays – both official and unofficial – her improvisational comedy and her overall presence establish her as an icon of Hollywood history.
