Khodorkovsky
How and why did Mikhail Khodorkovsky land in jail? The most famous prisoner of today’s Russia, the former head of the oil giant Yukos, the enemy of the Russian prime minister, Vladimir Putin, and a powerful millionaire, is now the scapegoat of an entire society. Is he, however, truly guilty or is he only experiencing the conditions of a justice system, created by an oligarchic caste of which he was once a member? The rare audiovisual footage and an exclusive interview with Khodorkovsky behind bars accompany the film’s fame, which catapulted when unidentified individuals broke into German director Cyril Tuschi’s office, taking part of the material with them and touching nothing else. Through a tight and often peculiarly humorous narration, “Khodorkovsky” leads us into a universe of dark political transactions and introduces us to a new cold war, fully adjusted to our times.
