Raw Material
The dreams of the major steel mills for almost gratis metal, the environmental obligations of Greece and the dream of the West for an army of illegal immigrants meet at the slums under the shadow of the Parthenon. Three Romas from Albania, two Indians, one Turkish and one Greek, only a small sample of the swarms of desperadoes recycling the scrap metals of an entire country, are the heroes of “Raw Material”, just as they themselves constitute raw material. The documentary chronicles the course behind these food gatherers of a contemporary Europe. An ordeal in the scorching heat and the icy snow creeps from the bodies of the subjects into the mind of the audience.
