Silver Tongues
A middle-aged couple leaves on a road trip from town to town looking for some rather illegitimate fun. They profit from their acting talent and at every stop they make, they adopt different personas, deceiving and manipulating their unsuspecting victims. A newlywed couple, a religious congregation and the residents of a nursing home all fall into the web of these insatiable and sadistic machinations. Soon, however, the two amoralists’ dark game spirals out of control – so much so that the consequences seem unpredictable. The impressive and twisted debut by Simon Arthur won the Audience Award at the recent Slamdance festival, and is the fleshed-out version of the award-winning short of the same name he directed in 2007. A lowbudget indie gem, tightroping between the limits of psychological thriller and black comedy, with razor-sharp performances, deceiving plot and a fucked-up grey veil covering it to the last frame.
