Metamorphosis: Beyond the Screen Door
Tom Gregor has always been a good son and brother. Suddenly, a mysterious illness keeps him from going to work and support his family. His parents are unable to find work and Tom is pained to watch his sister resort to prostitution in order to earn their livelihood, while, even after his firing, his tyrannical boss keeps scolding him. Will the young man ever be able to get over the illness that’s tormenting him or is he already on a road with no return? American director Norith Soth, in his directorial debut, keeps the basic elements of the classic Franz Kafka short story, “Metamorphosis”, and pitches a modern adaptation of the story with experimental filming, an abstract structure and addictive avant-garde aesthetics.
