Anthropoid

Can the director of "Cashback", one of the most refreshing romantic comedies of the past decade, be up to the challenge of directing a suspenseful thriller about the real-life plan to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich, a notorious Nazi official? The answer is a resounding yes, as the film ends up being a heart-stopping experience with Cillian Murphy ("Peaky Blinders") again at the top of his game.
In 1942 Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, a group of Czech resistance fighters assisted by the British engage in a daredevil operation under the code name Anthropoid. Their objective is to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich, the Reich-protector of the region and one of the main architects of the Holocaust. However, operation leaders Josef Gabcik (Cillian Murphy) and Jan Kubis (Jamie Dornan) will encounter innumerable obstacles in their attempt to kill the third most powerful Nazi official.
Sean Ellis, the director of "Cashback", one of the most original romantic comedies of the past decade, revisits a crucial WWII military operation in a story told in purely cinematic terms. Combining elements of a period film with thrilling action and a climactic build-up, the film is an assiduous study of human behavior under high pressure, starring the exceptionally talented Cillian Murphy and Jamie Droman of "50 Shades of Grey" fame.
