"Anemone": A historic and unforgettable night at AIFF
One of the most magical moments of the 31st Athens International Film Festival!
On Sunday, October 12, at a sold-out Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall, the Athens International Film Festival had the great honor of welcoming Daniel Day-Lewis and his son Ronan Day-Lewis for the world premiere of ANEMONE — the highly anticipated film marking the legendary actor’s remarkable return to the big screen, through the stunning directorial debut of his son.
The screening was held in support of a charitable cause, with all proceeds donated to Cerebral Palsy Greece – Open Door, an organization Daniel Day-Lewis has been deeply connected to since 1989, when he first visited Athens for the premiere of My Left Foot.
Following the dazzling premiere, audiences were treated to a moving and revealing Q&A with Daniel and Ronan Day-Lewis, moderated by Loukas Katsikas, Artistic Director of the Festival, and Marianna Oikonomou, filmmaker. In one of the most touching moments of this year’s edition, father and son spoke about their shared journey, their collaboration, and the power of art to bridge silence.
The evening concluded with a festive reception in the Megaron’s atrium, where 1,400 guests enjoyed cocktails courtesy of event sponsor Jameson.
The festival’s grand finale was perfectly complemented by Fischer Beer, proud sponsor of the Audience Award.
Heartfelt thanks to Universal Pictures International, Tanweer, and the Athens Concert Hall for their invaluable collaboration and contribution to this unforgettable night — and to the Hotel Grande Bretagne for hosting our distinguished guests and the Press Conference held earlier that day.
